Prof. Dr.phil. Christina von Braun Prof. Dr.phil. Christina von Braun is a cultural theorist, author and filmmaker. Since 2006 head of the Cultural Studies Seminar of the Humboldt University in Berlin. She is co-founder and was head of the Gender Studies programme at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1996 to 2002. Her research interests include gender, media, religion, modernity, history of Anti-Semitism. Author and co-editor of many books and essays on the reciprocal influences in intellectual history and the gender roles. Her last publications include „Stille Post – Eine andere Familiengeschichte“ (2007) and „Myths of Blood“ (2007, together with Christoph Wulf), „Veiled Reality. The Woman, Islam and the West“, co-edited with Bettina Mathes, was awarded „Best Scholarly Book of the Year 2008“ in the category of social and cultural studies. Dr. Carolin Emcke is author, political theorist and journalist. From 1998 to 2006 she was editor at „Spiegel“ and the foreign editor in a number of crisis areas. Since 2007 she is the international reporter for „ZEITmagazin“. For her book „On the Wars“ (2005) she received the „The Political Book“ prize awarded by the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation and the promotional Ernst Bloch prize. In May 2008 her book „Silent Violence – Reflecting on the RAF“ will appear at S. Fischer. |
